th-1 10.08.13 AMIt is the time of year when most of the world is caught up in planning, setting goals and deciding on a New Year’s resolution. These actions all sound very positive. Who could deny that joining a gym, attending a yoga class regularly, join a dating sight or making commitments to exercise more and eat less are bad things? Truth is they aren’t, but the way that you go about achieving these goals is what causes most of us to give up on these changes and revert back to your old habits.

By focusing only on the goal and what you want to achieve, you are missing the most important piece of successfully implementing change; a solid, clear foundation. This thinking also applies to improving your relationships. You want to talk differently, act confidently and attend more social events to meet “the one”. By not working towards these goals from a firm foundation, you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

The problem is that all of the changes listed above, require setting actions that are superficial. They come from force, and a manic mind that is only focused on the goal and the steps required to make it happen.

When any of us move in our lives from a check list or from a manic mind, we will eventually become tired, bored, unmotivated and loose the fuel it takes to make any of this real sustainable change.

I completely understand this mindset and have lived through what it can cause. Back in the 90’s, I was a competitive bodybuilder and there was a lot of doing, forcing and pushing. My focus was on my next goal, my next competition and moving up in that world. Guess what?  You got it, my body eventually said “No More” and it crashed. Leaving me physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted. Now that may be the extreme, but look back on all of your well thought intentions of the past. How sustainable were they? Are any of them a part of your life today?

Because of that experience, I have dedicated my life to diving deep inside myself to the core level of my being. We need to work like a till, digging up the old soil of our lives, getting to the heart of our inner workings, uncovering old emotional patterns and conditions so that we can understand ourselves and be able to change our lives, health, relationships, level of intimacy, and sex lives.

You may have heard the expression about living through eyes of the past. This means that what we currently have in our lives, our experiences, reactions and relationships, are all created from our past. The way we were taught and conditioned to react, the pieces and emotions we suppressed and never cleared or faced at the core level all impact our current decisions.

How often have you heard that your outer world is a reflection of your inner world? To be sustainable on the outside, change has to happen at the cellular level of each person. The challenge to us all is that a lot of conditioned patterns are unconscious. We don’t realize that we are acting in a particular way. There is an overall lack of awareness.

So for all of you out there ready and wanting to create change that is sustainable for a New Year and a New You, it’s going to mean going inside yourself, shifting the belief, the energetic patterning, the emotional conditioning on the core level. When you do that, all of the outer world, the new skills, new workouts, and new ways of eating will be more of a way of life that aligns with who you are on the inside instead of being a chore or something to check off of a list. Make sense?

So I suggest if when February rolls around you still desire to see the shifts of all the resolutions in a way that impacts your life in BIG ways, to add to that list to find ways to do the inner work and get to the heart of yourself. Here’s my motto for doing just that:

  1. Uncover and Understand the blind spots and old patterns or actions that hold you back.
  2. Clear and Transform at the cellular level
  3. Develop Awareness of the most intricate places within you
  4. Plant Seeds and Skills
  5. Take Action and apply to your new life with Emotional Clarity and a new awakened sense of passion to live a more intimate life in relationship to others, with Spirit and most importantly with Yourself!
